The Governors share responsibility with the Headteacher for the organisation and management of the school. Meetings are held at least once a term to discuss matters relating to school resources, finance and the curriculum.
The Governing Board is made up of individuals representing our parents, staff and our local community . Governors representing parents are elected by the parents and must themselves have a child at the school. Staff elect their governors via an internal democratic voting system. Governors representing the community are co-opted by the elected and appointed Governors of the school.
- To ensure clarity of vision, ethos and strategic direction.
- To hold the headteacher to account for the educational performance of the school and its pupils, and the performance management of staff.
- To oversee the financial performance of the school and make sure its money is well spent.
You don’t have to have children at the school to be a governor. However, you do have to be over 18 and pass a formal check for your suitability to be within a school. No specific qualifications are required and a full induction programme is run in partnership with the local authority. However, there are certain expectations, please see our code of conduct for further details.
